We believe our professional service fee is the lowest in the Kapiti region, as evidenced by website listings, but also we seem unique in that we do not put any markups on the items we pay for on our client’s half. This means traditional items such as Flowers, Newspaper Notices, Catering, Cemetery fees etc
We only pass on the costs charged to us. Some Funerals Homes put a mark upon items purchased on behalf of their client families meaning another revenue source for them, however, we do not put any extra charge on these ‘other items’ organised on behalf of the client families we serve.
Would it be cheaper to purchase these yourselves? With other Funeral Homes, it may well be, but with Kapiti Coast Funeral Home it may be cheaper if we purchase these items, as we normally get discounts for being a regular purchaser and when we do, we pass these savings on to you.
It may not seem obvious when comparing one Funeral Home’s charges with another, or one quote with another as these ‘extra amounts’ can be hidden, but when you see the bottom line that’s what makes the difference, so check everything you want or need is included in the quote.
Another way we keep costs down is by providing some of these services from within our organisation. An example of this is having a graphic designer here at our Kapiti office, the printing of our own full-colour service material such as service brochures, memorial registers, photo books and thank you cards. This gives us the ability to personalise items and make changes at the last minute. This is even the case during a funeral at the Funeral Home where we can run off additional service sheets when a funeral is larger than the family expected.
