“Checking First”
Because Funerals are perceived as expensive, many people think we charge a lot for all the extra things we do, however, this can be far from the truth and cause families a lot of work for very little gain.
An example of this a while ago was when a son went out and arranged to have a service sheet (the program at a service) designed and printed elsewhere. He came to us proudly saying it had cost him only $350 for the design work and $4 a copy for printing. He was proud of himself, but also exhausted from all the running around he had done. Our charges from our in-house graphic designer is $250 and our print charge $2.50 per copy for printing, a whole lot cheaper than what he had achieved, and without all that running around too. – If he had just asked rather than assuming we could have saved him money, time, and stress.
Another common example is where families will put a newspaper notice in themselves to save cost, without checking out our charges. We add no mark ups to any notices placed on behalf of the family and some papers in fact give us a discount which we pass on to families so it can be false economy for families to place the notice themselves.

ONLY US – Other companies do have ‘markups’ and do charge more than we do, so the lesson is simple..
“Check first”, it doesn’t hurt to ask!
