The old board finished its final meeting, and the new board then was convened at the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand AGM in Auckland on 2nd November 2023, and the 1st business of the meeting was appointing a new National Chair which goes hand in hand with the role of the National President, and the first nomination was for Andrew Malcolm.

Kapiti Coast Funeral Home’s managing Director is now the National President of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand.
The Association is the largest body of Funeral Homes in New Zealand representing nearly 110 member firms and 250 funeral homes. Members represent around 75% of all funeral homes across New Zealand. Under Andrew’s guidance this 2 year work on a new set of standards was achieved and now is a foundation of the Association as outlined here from the opening statement on their website: https://funeraldirectors.co.nz/

“Our members are committed to a set of best practice industry standards and inspections to ensure they are met”.

The focus of the association over many years has been that when engaging the services of a Funeral Directors Association member the public has an assurance of a meaningful farewell.
This mental health focus is a strong ongoing component of Andrew’s focus going forward.
Andrew may be a bit busier over the next 12 months, but anyone knowing Andrew knows that he loves to be busy after all as Benjamin Franklin said in 1856. “If you want something done, ask a busy person”
