Things to consider when arranging a
Memorial Service
A MEMORIAL SERVICE after a CREMATION has taken place
This is a farewell gathering after the cremation has taken place, either as a Direct Cremation
or an Attended Cremation.
The other charges listed below are just examples and the choices you make will affect the final cost.
Step 1:
The Cremation Farewell – Previously charged for in the Cremation
1. Direct Cremation $5250
2. A Private Goodbye $5,675
3. An Attended Cremation at $7,285,
Estimated Average Cost with Extras is $10,995 (incl GST)
Note: When we arrange additional items there will be a professional fee component added.
The Professional fee is not a fixed amount but varies depending on the additional services provided for organising any of these items.
Step 2:
The Memorial Service
Please consider that you may want some or all of the following for the Memorial Service
1. NEWSPAPER Notice/s – which papers and what days/dates to appear; wording for notice can be drafted and sent to our email office@kapitifuneral.co.nz. and a confirmation to check will be returned before inserting the notice with a cost, cost very largely depends on publication and length.
2. FLOWERS – For Memorial table at the front of chapel; flowers for the reception table as people arrive.
Choices of flowers and amount you want to spend are helpful before ordering from the florist.
Bowl arrangements are the most common style used. Link to flower types
3. COMMITTAL FLOWERS – Lose flowers, or Rosemary, or Rose petals for those wanting to come forward and say goodbye at the end and or for the cemetery.
4. CELEBRANT – ($300 -S1000 ) We have a choice of professional celebrants, young and older, male and female, religious, partly and totally non-religious. An idea from you on this would be helpful before we engage someone. We can then get them to contact you by phone and email to begin to work out an order of service and who you want to be involved.
5. CHAPEL HIRE – $880 for Kapiti Coast Funeral Home Chapel
If you require Google Meet (like Zoom) please advise and we can send the link for you to forward.
This can include recording from the chapel system. Other venues have different charges.
6. PHOTO TRIBUTES are available. Usually 40-50 photos and a track of music.
You can either send electronic photos and music to us to compile (cost $150)
or physical photos for us to scan and us to get music ($300)
7. CATERING LOUNGE & KITCHEN ($330) – Required if you want to stay for refreshments

8. SERVICE SHEETS – ($2.50 – $4.00 ea) there are various styles and these are customised to your requirements. See the link here for the examples
9. CATERING – There are several menu options. A standard 3 item menu including serving and beverages is $15.50 per head. We require numbers for this for price. Other options may be desirable at lunchtime including 4 or 5 item menu, See the menu link for information on these options.
10. MEMORIAL REGISTER – Memorial Registers for people sign as they arrive at the funeral. Both at $89, one a simple classic style in A4 format, basic version, the second version is Landscape A4, on 250gsm semi gloss paper, a more modern look, with extra information, like the Service sheet inserted and space for colour photos, is $125 – Personalised Registers
11. TABLE DISPLAY – Items for the display at the focal point in the Memorial Service, these may include
- Urns (our range of Urns here)
- Candles ( we have a range of scented candles if required )
- Photos, framed ( we can provide a simple black frame for a photo)
- Memorial Photo boards
- Flowers ( We can order, as above ) or these can come from your garden
- Personal items reflecting your loved one’s life, trophies, sports or other hobbies and passions
