It is sad to be writing my last article for the Kapiti Observer, as digital media moves to a new level and fewer and fewer printed newspapers are produced. I have enjoyed writing my weekly editorial and will continue to share information through other platforms as the times change.
As the Kapiti Observer bids farewell this week, it marks yet another milestone in the inevitable shift from print to digital media.
The closure of this local newspaper underscores the growing dominance of digital platforms in delivering news and information. While it’s a nostalgic moment for many, it’s also a reality of the evolving landscape of media consumption.
Amidst this transition, I have tried to make my voice heard clearly through the noise, offering insightful articles that have resonated with many in the community. I have been dedicated to informing and educating through my contributions and have received good, widely appreciated feedback.
Fortunately, the cessation of the Kapiti Observer will not stop my articles from guiding people in times of need, as I will continue through other media including digital channels. The articles and blogs I’ve penned will remain accessible on the Kapiti Coast Funeral Home’s website, ensuring that valuable information continues to be available to the community. Moreover, this online platform promises to keep updating its content, adapting to the changing needs and interests of its audience.
While bidding farewell to an icon of the Kapiti region is bittersweet, it’s essential to embrace the opportunities presented by digital media. As the landscape evolves, there’s a commitment to supporting local content in every possible way. Through digital platforms, the spirit of community engagement and storytelling will persist, fostering connections and dialogue in the digital age.
In this era of rapid technological advancement, the Kapiti Observer’s closure serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of adaptation. As we move forward, let us continue to celebrate the richness of local content while embracing the boundless possibilities offered by digital media.
