Question (What about someone else driving the hearse?
Yeah, sometimes our insurance company is not too happy about other people driving the hearse, but I’ve quite commonly said to a family member, do you want to come in the hearse with us?
And every now and again, I’ve said to an appropriate family member, would you like to drive while I sit in the passenger seat? And you’d be amazed how many times people do and that becomes a really lasting memory. And sometimes even just sitting in the hearse becomes a lasting memory.
But we also do really cool things like, where is the house in relation to the cemetery or the crematorium?
Why not drive past? Or they had a love of the beach, why not drive past? I recently had one again with a bowling club member who was an ex-president and we were driving to the cemetery, but we went a long way to the cemetery.
It was only five minutes up the road; it took us 20 minutes because we were past the bowling club. And when we got there, there were members waiting out on the street, actually doing a guard of honour for us. So just thinking about adding flavour again, just by what you’re doing, the world’s your oyster.
It’s about saying goodbye in a way that you remember and you smile because you did something really special.
