On Thursday night last week, 3rd October 2024, just over 50 supporters and 9 staff gathered at the Funeral Home for a fun-filled night as they raised $731.50 for the Kapiti Loss & Grief Centre.
The centre offers free support groups, subsidised counselling, runs seminars for Professional Development and for the community, and offers Companioning.
The funds this time were focused on Companioning which is the free service where volunteers journey with a client for 12 months being the ‘connection’ to the centre and keep in touch with help and support over the months ahead.
Even though this is offered to all those using Kapiti Coast Funeral Home, it is not exclusive to us, as the Loss & Grief Centre is an independent charity, and the volunteers are linked to the centre,
not the Funeral Home. About 25% of families we offer this service to initially turn it down, but many change their minds later. When reading this if you feel you could benefit from this service,
