Sunday afternoon was a blustery grey day, a good day to be inside, and a good day to gather and talk through the various issues and questions being at a crematorium raise. Kapiti Crematorium, owned by Kapiti Coast Funeral Home, again ran a guided tour of the crematorium on Sunday with a perfect size group of 22 people. The questions were many, and the stories told were very helpful. The tour took 3 parts.
1 A gathering in the chapel with a 20 minute talk about the crematorium with questions answered
2 A physical walk through the building and showing the machine explaining its uniqueness
3 A gathering on the way home to the Loss & Grief Centre, 1 Kapiti Road, for refreshments. So when will this opportunity come around again for those that couldn’t make it?
There is a national Cemetery and Crematorium focus weekend on 4th and 5th November, and Kapiti Crematorium will open its doors on Sunday 5th of November between 2pm and 4pm to lead guided tours or just allow you to look around. Representatives from Kapiti Coast District Council will also be there on the Sunday to answer any cemetery questions for this Nationally focused weekend on Cemeteries and Crematoriums.
