Many readers will have seen the 2 recent articles in ‘The Post’ (Tuesday 8 August 2023) highlighting corporately owned Funeral Homes, Wellington (and Kapiti), and issues with cremations, Friday
(4 August 2023) a ‘front-page’ article that captured the issues of an older style cremator with bad air quality and smell. In contrast locally owned Kapiti Coast Funeral Home owns Kapiti crematorium meaning both are locally and independently owned, and not only that, but the cremator technology is ‘state of the art’ with a modern pollution control system on the cremator at Kapiti Crematorium.
“Not all Cremators are created equal” Cremators differ in age, make, and add-ons, people often have questions they are not comfortable asking, but we have a chance to remedy that. If you choose to come to our tour and see for yourself and find out the answer to all those difficult questions such as:
Do they cremate 2 at a time the answer is ‘No’ but the reasons will only be explained at the crematorium tour.
What happens to the metal parts, hips, pins, plates? What about false teeth and other prosthetics?
What happens to ‘Gold teeth’ What about gold rings and other jewellery
Pacemakers – What happens to them? What if they are left in?
Can a family watch the casket ‘go in’ (called ‘charging’)
Do you really get the ashes back (Yes, and we’ll tell you how and why)
And any other questions you dream up, Andrew is happy to answer on the day
You are invited to come and find out on one of our crematorium tours, so book in and we will answer these questions.
We run these tours twice a year and the next tour is on Sunday 27th August at 2pm, to book contact us on 04 298 5168. Tours are limited to 30 persons. A 2nd tour will be held on 24th September.
When recording your funeral wishes, you may want to consider a ‘clean cremation’ with Kapiti Crematorium, but also holding your final farewell with the independently and locally owned Kapiti Coast Funeral Home.
